Week 2

Sooo, I've been having quite some interviews already, seven interviews so far that I can use for my thesis, so that's going really well, and have another seven planned, so that's really awesome. By the end of these six weeks I should be having some time to travel, my plan is to go at least to Chefchaouen and Marrakesh.
So, what else have I been doing? I've met some amazing people through the couchsurfing community and have been going out with them, been eating good food with my friend Lorena from Italy, went to the market and saw a girl fight, also went to another market were it was like a jungle and people were fighting over garments they wanted to buy. It was crazy! I did a presentation in front of a whole class of students of English at the faculty of literature and humanities, and I wasn't even nervous because everybody is just so nice here. Their faculty has a very beautiful garden with palm trees, so spent a bit of time there to get to know some people and to find more people I could interview. Furthermore, went to a metalshow in a rock cafe. Morocco and metal, strangest country/music combo ever I think, but metalheads are quite universal figures so that was cool too. Last sunday I went to the habbous which was sort of a compound back in the days with a courtroom, but now it's a cute market and we visited it, we were explained a lot about the history, now it had a beautiful rose garden inside, beautiful mixed portuguese and morocan architecture and we had some nougat with almond cookies with mint tea after.
Now, back to another busy week of doing interviews. It's very intense but the girls I talk to inspire me so much. Some focus completely on their studies, some find an escape in movies and books, some create their own word on the internet or in online communities, some want to leave the country asap. It's not always easy being a girl in Morocco but it's cool to see how they create their own agency as much as they can.

CAITlinnnnnnnnnn
Wat leuk allemaal zeg! Souns like you are having a blast, as always!
Fijn dat je je zo comfortabel voelde tijdens je presentatie:)
Lijkt me ook gaaf om te zien hoe al deze meiden het beste ervan proberen te maken, ook al zie jij dat ze met bepaalde barrières te maken hebben.
I hope you can give eachother awesome advice!
Succes nog met je onderzoek verder en ik kijk uit naar je volgende update!
Xxx
